What does medical payments cover actually do?
It pays medical bills for you and your passengers after a crash, regardless of fault and without waiting for the fault question to be answered. It is usually a small amount of premium for a few thousand dollars of cover, and it is the money that arrives while everything else is still being argued about.
I hit a cow on an open range road. Who pays?
Frequently your own comprehensive cover, not the rancher. Open range means livestock have a right to be there and the owner is often not liable. If you carry liability only, there may be nothing to repair your vehicle with.
Are the state minimum limits enough?
Rarely, and especially not when you own property. Arizona requires 25/50/15. A single serious injury claim exceeds that quickly, and once it does, what the claimant can pursue is whatever you own. Raising limits is one of the cheapest changes on a policy.
