The house and your belongings are covered differently
On the most common homeowners form the structure is covered against any peril except those listed as excluded, while your personal property is covered only against a specific list of named perils. If a loss to your belongings is not on that list, it is not covered, and most owners assume both halves work the same way.
The broader form reverses that for contents
A broader form extends open peril cover to personal property as well, meaning anything not expressly excluded is covered. It costs modestly more and it is a materially different contract, particularly for the odd losses that no named peril list anticipates.
Nobody is told which they bought
The form is identified on the declarations page in a way that means nothing to most people. It is the single most consequential fact about a policy and the one least likely to have been explained at the sale.
